Responses to surveys about factors affecting people’s motivation to exercise indicate that advice from a doctor ranks highly.
Public Health England (PHE) has produced a physical activity infographic to help healthcare professionals start a conversation and provide practical advice to patients on how to incorporate physical activity into their everyday life. Although it was developed for healthcare professionals this resource could be of value for patients to improve their knowledge on physical activity.
This project sets out to investigate whether the infographic meets our requirement of providing patients with a minimum level of knowledge of the relationship between physical activity and health, including the current Department of Health guidelines.
If the infographic is not suitable for patients in its current form we will seek to re-design it by engaging patients in the development process. The new resource will then be tested in patient populations and refined based on the result.
